The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Jean François Houle is the new head coach of the Laval Rocket.
Houle has spent the past six years as an assistant coach in the American Hockey League. The 46-year-old was also previously the head coach of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada where he was replaced by Joël Bouchard, who was then general manager of the team. He also has NCAA coaching experience.

His dedication, his passion for hockey, his attention to detail and his leadership are among his main qualities. Jean-François’ many years of experience, as well as his knowledge of the American Hockey League and the Quebec market, made him the ideal candidate for the position. He has proven himself at all levels and has a great reputation. His expertise will be a key element in the development of young players in our organization, ”Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said in a statement.
He also has playing experience and was a draft pick for the Canadiens in 1993. He has played almost 300 career games in the ECHL and AHL.
