A year in women’s health

In honor of Mother’s Day, Zocdoc explored how American women interact with healthcare professionals and how that has changed over the past year, by analyzing its aggregate appointment booking data for the women’s health from january toApril 2021 to January-April 2022.

Data shows that across all domains, women are increasingly seeking preventive care, after many people have delayed well visits, including annual appointments, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, even if not all women are mothers, whether by choice or circumstance, the data sheds light on the health habits of women who have or wish to have biological children — from preconception counseling to prenatal and postnatal care, and beyond — as well as those who seek contraceptive care.

An ounce of prevention…
In the early stages of the pandemic, many people are postponing their annual preventative healthcare visits in favor of staying out of doctor’s offices. Now with nearly 90% adults who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and pandemic-related restrictions lifted across the country, women are embracing elective wellness and care appointments again.
